I'll admit, I've been a hipocrit. In the past, I've been the one doing the design work, and leaving the homeowner to suffer the wrath that is construction. Leaving them to deal with the mess and caos that is left at the end of the day. And very rarely did I feel sympathetic because I knew the finished product would be well worth the time lost in their kitchen. Until now. Its not like we are having our kitchen ripped out. We are simply having backspash put in (puting in ourselves). Holy shit. If this isnt the biggest pain, and John and I are losing our minds with it, and one another. We are using left over marble mosaic (or so we thought) from our bathroom renovations a little over a year ago. The two times I asked John to make sure we had enough Carrara left over, each response was, I'm pretty sure we do. Um, ok. So, commence construction. Last night, in my INFINITE wisdom, I finally decided I had to see for myself. And lucky enough, NO we dont have enough. At least not of the marble that I wanted. However we do have enough white matte subway tile and enough bullnose carrara and mosaic carrara to do subway with a detail of marble. Generally, I dont like this sort of thing, I think it usually looks contrived, however, the fact that our kitchen is the simplest of kitchens, I really dont think this will come out the least bit "decorated" (I rate this word up their with the greats---shit, f, c**k, etc). You may as well say "oh! I hired a desocrator to do my kitchen". Yuck.
Anyway, please enjoy our progress, and note the outlet. That like m-f'er gave me 120volts in the finger saturday. Oh, and, I did manage to make homemade banana nut muffins amidts this caos. I thought john deserved them after I told him he may as well drag the razorblade across his wrist, he'd be more helpful. Poor baby!
