Today, I knew was going to be a pretty calm day. All i really wanted to do was wake up and run, then just putts around the house...on my way out the door, John asked if i wanted to play tennis instead. Surely did! So, off we went to play. Back up to old Parkway West where the exterior was so different, but the building was still a piece of shit. However, a huge sign in the front (i think proposition A) for renovations and repairs to the building including new Fine Arts Wing, updated Science and Technology, as well as just overall repair. I say vote yes on this, that school needs all the help it can get. I may have spent most of my time driving away from it or in the ISS wing, I still care- a little.
Then, we decided to go shoot some guns. Let me preface this by saying this: I am HORRIFIED of guns. They scare me, they make my palms sweat, and i worry constantly that someone innocent will accidentally be shot by one. With that said, knowing how to handle a gun, and storing them safely in our home makes most of that go away, and is replaced by a feeling of safety. I went to the shooting range, i can shoot a handgun should the situation require me to do so.
Today, however, i went to the Skeet Shooting range out near six flags. Again, it gave me that feeling of total fear of getting shot, and of the unexpected. But a few things calmed me quickly. The first and the biggest is the unwritten rule smeared all over the place: "No dumb shits or assholes allowed. Be smart, or die". Everyone there respected this rule, kept to themselves, and knew what they were doing. So, when i finally got the jist of the place down, John offered me the .12 gauge shotgun (by the way, probably weighed 30lbs and was as tall as me). So, it was hard to get acquainted with. Loading it without pointing it, holding it without falling forward, and shooting it without killing my armpit or my face. I had no idea what i was doing, but John being the constant teacher, said two things: Focus on the plate not the gun and lean into it. And BAM!! Off I went!!! Shooting really well!! However, after about 10 rounds, my shoulder and face couldnt take any more pain. I was done, and happy to resign myself to cart driver.

Check that off my list.
