Pumpkin and Dremel...A Girl's Dream!

Ok, I "carved" one of the lovely black pumpkins today. I couldn't sit there and watch my pumpkin without carving it another day, knowing full well that it will rot before Halloween. But, here it is, and here are the steps so you can give it a shot too.  I decided to go ahead and gut the pumpkin so i could light the inside making the actual carving glow, even though i am not carving all the way through.  I removed the bottom so i can actually rest the pumpkin on the candle without worrying the candle will fall over inside the pumpkin.  Use a REALLY sharp knife and be sure to scrape out the guts. Otherwise, its just gross after a few days. Make it clean inside.  And no, i didnt roast the seeds. 

Next, took the Engravers tool bit from Dremel, and attached it to my Dremel tool (PS, Get one of these!! For $50, they can do ANYTHING!). I really lightly used the tool on the lowest speed and made the outline of my pumpkin face...in this case, a spider.  When i was happy with the pattern, i turned the speed up, and sunk the tool deeper.  Beware of crap flying all over everything, so a hat would be good to wear.  Also know, the deeper you dredge the dremel, the more light you will see through from the candle inside. But, just so you know, you dont have the gut the pumpkin.  YOu can see from the picture, it looks pretty aweso

me as it is.  You can spray paint he pumpkin any color that would compliment its' orange color.  Blue would be pretty, so would white!
